In a 10 server configuration that includes management and Windows Server licenses, VMWare VI3 Virtual Server platform (including management and Microsoft Virtual Server licenses) retails for $58,750 compared with $33,600 for Microsoft’s Virtual Server in a comparable configuration. Yes, I know that no one pays list price, but it gives you an idea of the pricing disparity that exists between the two platforms right now.

Забавная ситуация складывается… Разница в 3 раза – все же это не так просто, учитывая, что решение виртуальной инфраструктуры VI3 от VMware и только что аннонсированное на рынке Virtual Machine Manager от Microsoft схожи по своим функциональным возможностям. Думаю, в ближайшее время мы станем свидетелями серьезных маркетинговых и ценовых ходов, громких объявлений со стороны обоих компаний… Ведь на кону – громадный рынок с очень серьезным будущим.
